Episode 102 – Mario Kart Ninja

Since I’ve been playing Mario Kart on the Wii so much lately, I wanted to make an episode about it. Everyone seems to agree that the game is a ton of fun but the AI is very frustrating. If you’re in first place on the last lap you just get bombarded with attacks. The last ten seconds of the final lap can be very hectic.

There’s also a debate raging about the merits of the Wii Wheel. Personally, I love it. I haven’t even tried the other options (Wiimote only, Wiimote+Nunchuck, Classic Controller, or Gamecube controller). The Wii Wheel adds a huge fun factor, I just can’t seem to put it down. Something about holding that little white piece of plastic in my hands and moving it like a real steering wheel makes me feel more connected to the game. Some people complain that it’s not accurate enough but I’ve done just fine with it, even on the 150cc races. I think it’s just a matter of adjusting to it.

As far as the episode, I didn’t have a plot in mind at first, I just started drawing the Wii Wheel and decided to see what happened. When I was done with it I felt like drawing a fancier one and the plot just came from that. And there’s not really a story behind Narc’s t-shirt, it’s just an idea that popped into my head one day. And all the music is just straight from the Mario Kart soundtrack.
